Stig Leander’s idea for the Leander cradle came about from a real need in real life. A member of the family had had twins and it was difficult to take care of both children simultaneously. But with a cradle suspended from one point, it was easy to rock the one child and hold the other at the same time.
Thus, a unique design company was literally born and after the cradle, a number of unique pieces of furniture followed – all designed with the same philosophy of focusing on the child.
The real world is the basis for Stig Leander’s work. By observing the life of children, he designs furniture that speaks and gives room for experience and development. With an education in craftsmanship and a portion of practical sense, Stig Leander has gained an understanding of the material’s qualities and possibilities.
Manufacturing high quality products with respect for good craftsmanship is obvious for Stig Leander. The design is not carried out on a computer, but with human hands in the workshop. Here cardboard and string is used to create the organic shapes that are unique for Leander children’s furniture.
